The Construction of Boma Yangu Railway City Phase 1A Officially Commences
Today marks the official groundbreaking of the Boma Yangu Railway City Phase 1A housing project, presided over by President William Ruto. The project is set to deliver 2,258 housing units, including 931 affordable units, 586 social housing units, and 744 market units, aimed at serving diverse income groups.
This transformative development will incorporate sustainable design elements such as natural ventilation, stormwater management, and energy-efficient lighting. It will also feature universal access elevators for social inclusion, supporting the elderly and persons with disabilities.
The project will further boost local employment by engaging Jua Kali artisans in the production of prefabricated components such as steel doors, windows, and interior fittings, along with opportunities for other professionals in the construction sector.
This initiative will not only address the housing gap in the city by expanding access to dignified housing but also play a key role in stimulating economic growth and promoting inclusive urban development.
